TunSafe iOS client in TestFlight

The TunSafe iOS app is available for beta testing from here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/Ekn13XW2.

The link is updated so please install it again if you used the old link previously. The bug where the tunnel doesn't work when switching between 3G and Wifi is fixed.

TunSafe VPN uses the official TunSafe VPN servers by default. When using those, there's no need to setup an account, just click a single button and all your Internet traffic will be routed anonymously through our servers.

You can also use a custom WireGuard configuration file from any WireGuard VPN provider of your choice.

Re: TunSafe iOS client in TestFlight

Great improvement, ludde, thank you! I wish I'd seen this yesterday, I expected updates to come via the existing TestFlight. I found a couple of bugs, but they're much smaller than the whole wifi/4g switch thing (thanks so much for sorting that one, it was a show stopper!).

1) I had to reboot the device (iPhone X) after installing the new TunSafe app before any wifi would work. I got weird errors in System Preferences about the (saved) wifi password being incorrect (it wasn't) and wifi wasn't getting a DHCP IP. Then THIS ERROR (picture in link) popped up in TunSafe. I had already uninstalled the old version completely and removed it from TestFlight. After rebooting, the wifi network and network switching now works perfectly. Weird. It's maybe not a bug as such, but this info may help another tester and stop them uninstalling TunSafe thinking it's broken.

2) Every device reboot, no matter whether you are on wifi or 4G, there is no internet connectivity. I have both 'Connect When TunSafe Starts' and 'Keep Connection Always On' enabled. Apple's System Preferences reports everything is OK, and that wifi and VPN are both connected. However as soon as TunSafe is opened it shows 'Reconnecting to VPN' forever. You have to manually disconnect then reconnect. After that the app/tunnel works perfectly forever - even with network switching - until you reboot. Then you have to disable/restart the VPN to get network again.

TunSafe v1.0(5)
iPhone X
iOS 12.1 (16B92)
Config - AzireVPN UK (from QR code, IPv4 and IPv6 conf, TunSafe set to auto IP version)

I hope this helps.

Re: TunSafe iOS client in TestFlight

Installed on my wife's iPhone XS Max to test and she's seeing the same issues as I. Today we're getting multiple 'write to UDP failed' errors, and now neither phone can connect (couldn't resolve uk1.azirevpn.com:51820). I've had to uninstall the app from both phones, as it was making the network unusable. sad Hopefully the Testflight app fed back enough extra data to be useful to you ludde. I'll definitely reinstall a future version to help iron out the bugs.

I've just uploaded 1.0.1 to testflight, it will be available as soon as apple decides to publish it, please try it.

And there should  be no need to uninstall it... at least not as long as the On Demand setting is off. You can just kill the app from the app list.

Re: TunSafe iOS client in TestFlight

I am in mainland China, I used the windoes version of tunsafe which is very easy to use. I hope that the IOS version of Tun can be paid for on your website, not in the iOS store. Because we don't have a US credit card, we can apply for the ID of the US Apple Store. Please post on your website the way Chinese can pay when your program is released. thank you all.

Finally pushed by Apple this morning, thanks. Unfortunately the 'no VPN on reboot' issue is still there. sad Sorry I can't provide anything more meaningful than that; one sad side-effect of having such a locked down walled-garden OS. No terminal, no logs. Hopefully TestFlight fed you something useful. As always ludde, if I can help with anything just ask.
